    What does a redwood privacy fence cost?
    It comes down to linear footage, fence height, how many gates you need, the grade of redwood and how difficult the terrain and access are. Rather than quote a number over the phone that changes once we see the property, we come out, measure the run and give you a firm written price — free, and with no obligation.
    Which areas do you cover?

    Do you remove and haul away the old fence?
    Yes. Tear-out, old posts, concrete footings and debris disposal are all handled as part of a replacement job. We keep the site clean while we work and leave it clean when we finish.
    Redwood or cedar — which should I choose?
    Both resist rot and insects well. Redwood is the local standard here, holds up to heavy Sierra snow load, freeze-thaw cycles and intense mountain UV without excessive cupping, and ages to an even silver-grey. We’ll walk you through the trade-offs and current material pricing at your estimate so you can decide with real numbers in front of you.
    How long does the installation take?
    Most residential backyard fences are a one- to three-day job once we start, depending on footage, gates and how much tear-out is involved. You get the expected timeline in writing with your estimate.
    How do you handle sloped ground?
    Panels are stepped or raked to follow the grade so the fence stays square and level across slopes and uneven terrain, rather than following the ground badly.
    Do I need a permit or HOA approval?
    Requirements vary by jurisdiction and by HOA — height limits, setbacks and approved styles differ between the Town of Truckee, South Lake Tahoe, unincorporated El Dorado/Placer County and TRPA-regulated lots. We’ll tell you what applies to your property at the estimate so there are no surprises after the posts are in.
